I paint what’s close to home, what’s dear to me, and what has quirk or character. I find the subjects for my paintings while riding my bike through my neighborhood, picking apples in my backyard, chatting over coffee on my neighbor’s porch, and walking through back alleys. Painting has helped me look at things differently and pay closer attention to my surroundings and my community; that’s important to me.
