Connie Wood is intrigued with processes on the verge of obsolescence and relishes exploring and reintroducing them. She is currently playing with possibilities in encaustic painting and incorporating favorite techniques from the various media she taught to high school and college students in her work.
Wood references mid century designs in her backgrounds and incorporates animal imagery with indirect reference to human behavior in her compositions. She hopes to raise questions about how the environment and the way resources are being used, believing that our eco systems are microcosms of the human condition. She thinks that if we examine issues close to home and react to them in a compassionate manner, that action will reverberate outward and have positive effects on a larger scale.
