When is the Tour?

Boise Open Studio Tour is traditionally held the second weekend in October; in 2012, Saturday October 13, and Sunday October 14. A limited number of artists will also open Friday evening October 12, this will be noted on this year’s guide map.

Where can I find a map and guide to the Tour?

Maps will be available:

a map is available now on the Tour page

coming soon in the Boise Weekly

at the BOSCO Preview Night event at Boise Art Museum on First Thursday, October 4, (as well as at the front desk of the museum anytime until the Tour)

at the Opening Reception for the BOSCO exhibit at the Visual Arts Collective on October 5, (as well as at the VAC anytime until the Tour)

Look for maps at other art hotspots around Boise.

The full brochure with map is also available for download

What are the hours for the Tour?

In 2012 artists’ studios will be open 10am to 6pm on Saturday, October 13; Noon to 6pm on Sunday, October 14. A few artists will open their studios on Friday evening as well, please check the map guide for specific information.

What does the Tour cost?

It’s free!

Can I bring my kids?

Yes! But please be aware that some artists work with fragile or hazardous materials and specialized tools, so always ask before touching something. Children should be supervised at all times. And note that many studios do not provide public restrooms.

What is BOSCO anyway?

BOSCO is the acronym for Boise Open Studios Collective Organization, Inc., a registered not-for-profit. The organization coordinates an annual tour of professional artists’ studios in the Boise, Idaho, area with the goal of literally opening doors to the creative process.

What kind of place is a “studio”?

A studio is simply a dedicated personal workspace where artwork is created. Among BOSCO artists you will visit converted garages, small out buildings, large warehouse space, or entire homes. You will see not only what the artist creates, but how it is created and all of the things that might inspire an artist — you’ll step through an open door into an artist’s personal creative process.

Is the art for sale?

In most cases, yes, artists will have art available for sale during the tour. BOSCO does not charge a commission on sales, 100% of the sales price goes to participating artists.
