S. E. Lisk, M.D. (woodcut printmaking)

Portrait_Lisk“I am a self-taught Woodcut Printmaker.  My work is painterly, colorful and realistic. It is presented in a primitive woodcut format. This method of printmaking originated in Europe in the 1400-1600’s and differs from the Japanese method that originated hundreds of years earlier.  That difference is that in this method no single block (key block), by its self, carries the entire image.”
